Meditation, dialogue|The Buddhist/ Christian Interfaith Community at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 1615 Ogden St., in Denver is having a meditation and dialogue, “The Challenges of Seeing All Sentient Beings as our Mother/Father/Christ/Buddha,” with the Venerable Claude D’Estree, senior dharma teacher, and the Rev. Toni Cook, pastor of St. Paul’s, at 5 p.m.
Youth services at Wellshire|Young people in grades six through 12 will lead the services at 9 and 11 a.m. at Wellshire Presbyterian Church, 2001 Colorado Blvd., in Denver. At 4 p.m., the Wellshire Sanctuary Choir will perform Bach and Haydn works.
Monday
Interfaith lecture series|The University of Denver and the Iliff School of Theology have joined to create the Interfaith Center for Religion and Public Life. Through education and outreach, the center will attempt to diffuse the divisiveness of religious differences by focusing on the unifying threads that bind the world’s major beliefs. The free event is at 7:30 p.m. at the Colorado Muslim Society, 2071 S. Parker Road, in Denver.
Tuesday
Yom Hazikaron service|A Yom Hazikaron memorial program will be at 7 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center’s Shwayder Theater, 350 S. Dahlia St., in Denver. The service will feature readings, songs and prayers honoring Israel’s fallen heroes.
Wednesday
Prayer, meditation service|Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church, 1980 Dahlia St., in Denver is having a contemplative prayer service followed by a discussion of the practice of silent prayer and meditation at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday
Temple hosts song festival|Temple Emanuel, 51 Grape St., in Denver is having an Israel Independence Day Song Festival at 6 p.m. This event features 12 choirs ranging from amateur to professional, including Jewish day and supplementary schools.
Editor to speak|Joshua Neuman, editor of HeeB Magazine, a publication geared toward young people that covers issues of Jewish faith, culture and identity, will speak at 5:30 p.m. at the Tattered Cover LoDo, 1628 16th St., Denver. He also will talk at 8 p.m. Friday in Lindsey Auditorium, Strum Hall, on the University of Denver campus, 2000 E. Asbury St.

History of Judaism in Denver|Beth Ami Colorado Congregation for Humanistic Judaism is having a 7 p.m. Shabbat service with historian and fourth-generation Coloradan Phil Goodstein, who will discuss the history of Judaism in Denver. The event will be at Aspen Village, second floor, 150 Quebec St., in Denver. An Oneg Shabbat will follow.
