Los Angeles-based AEG, an entertainment company controlled by Denver financier Phil Anschutz, has sold the naming rights to London’s Millennium Dome to United Kingdom mobile phone company O2, the London Daily Telegraph reported last week.

The naming rights were secured in a multimillion-dollar deal, the paper reported.

AEG declined to comment on the deal Friday.

The stadium, which has been closed since the end of 2000, will reopen in 2007 with “O2” emblazoned in blue on its white roof, according to the paper.

If London wins the bid for the 2012 Olympics, the dome could become an Olympic venue.

AEG owns Staples Center in Los Angeles and the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. It also operates five major-league soccer teams.
