Maybe this is the week we get some answers.
“Desperate Housewives” hits the end of the line, the season’s final episode airing at 8 p.m. Sunday (KMGH-Channel 7).
Strictly speaking, it’s not a soap opera. But the series that mixes comedy with serious social issues has left a lot of issues hanging – who’s the blackmailer, is Bree’s stalker loony and how will Lynette wiggle out of getting her husband fired?
“One Wonderful Day,” the season finale, had better answer these and other questions. I’m tired of waiting.
Other weekend highlights:
Friday
Dr. Phil McGraw gets after a woman who has manipulated the health-care system to meet her drug-addiction needs on “Escaping Addiction.” Her husband denies there’s a problem (7 p.m., KCNC-Channel 4).
The Muppets take on an American classic, “Wizard of Oz,” starring Ashanti as Dorothy and featuring David Alan Grier, Queen Latifah, Jeffrey Tambor, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy (7 p.m., KMGH-Channel 7).
Saturday
Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Rat Pack pals star in “Ocean’s 11,” the original movie about the ingenious Las Vegas casino heist, made in 1960 (8 p.m., KRMA-Channel 6).
Detective Benson (Mariska Hargitay) tries to protect a teenager from her hostile mother in “Intoxicated” on “Law & Order: SVU.” Cathy Moriarty guest stars (8 p.m., KUSA-Channel 9).
Sunday
Some critics dismissed as boring 2002’s “Star Wars: Episode Two – Attack of the Clones,” the second chapter of producer/director George Lucas’s fantasy saga, but it’s worth a look for its technical wizardry (6 p.m., KDVR-Channel 31).
As one who has been there, I can testify that the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest in Memphis, Tenn., is something to behold. Two hundred teams cook pork and drink a little for a week, hoping to win $24,000 (8 p.m., Food Network).
“Queer as Folk” premieres its fifth season with an attempted anniversary party, and Justin and Brian’s relationship is disrupted (8 p.m., Showtime).
