Grand Junction – Aerospace product manufacturer Hamilton Sundstrand has agreed to pay $1.25 million to resolve charges that it subjected Hispanic employees at its Grand Junction plant to harassment and a hostile work environment.
The agreement resolves a suit by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on behalf of 12 employees.
“Although the company firmly believes the allegations of discrimination are not true, we have made a decision to focus on the future rather than to dwell on events that allegedly occurred in the past,” said Hamilton Sundstrand spokeswoman Melissa Marsden.
The company also has agreed to provide employees with training on anti-discrimination laws, appoint an EEOC coordinator to ensure compliance with the agreement and oversee investigations of employee discrimination complaints.
