The “Denver Three” are appealing a decision by the U.S. Secret Service not to hand over information about the man who booted them out of a presidential visit to Denver on March 21.
“It is very disappointing that this secrecy by the government continues,” said Leslie Weise, a lawyer who was one of President Bush’s critics kicked out of a Social Security forum.
Weise, marketing coordinator Karen Bauer and Internet technology worker Alex Young were ousted by a man they believed was a Secret Service agent. They said he cited a “No More Blood for Oil” bumper sticker on their car.
The White House says the man was a volunteer who rightly booted the three to avoid disruption.
The Secret Service launched an investigation of the man’s identity but has rejected Freedom of Information requests for its documents.
“The mystery man who threw our clients out and those who aided him know who they are. … The only people who were involved and do not know who they are … are our clients,” attorney David Miller wrote in an appeal to the agency this week.
