Where: On Polo Beach in the Wailea area of Maui
Out and about: We took our sons, ages 5 and 2, to visit our honeymoon destination, Maui. We stayed on the south side of the island in Wailea and enjoyed the sunny days, spectacular sunsets and warm nights. The clear water gave us the opportunity to snorkel and see many turtles. The entire family enjoyed a sunset luau on the beach. We found several nice beaches for kids and adults, including Polo Beach, right in front of our resort, and Kapalua Beach on the north side of the island.
Travel tip: We highly recommend the all-suite Fairmont Kea Lani Resort for families. Each two-room suite includes a mini-kitchen, large bathroom, living area, bedroom and lanai. There are three pools, a water slide and a great beach. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The resort has several restaurants and stores.
