Cheyenne, Wy. – Two members of a family from Littleton were killed when a pickup truck hit them head-on on Tuesday, according the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Troopers believe the driver of the truck, Michael P. Paslay, 47, from Ethete, Wy., fell asleep before crossing into oncoming traffic and hitting the van that was carrying the Seidler family on U.S. 20/26, 65 miles west of Casper.

Two passengers in the van were killed. They were identified as Kathleen Seidler, age 53, and Joel B. Seidler, 19. Both were wearing seatbelts but had misused them, according to officials. In each case the shoulder strap was behind them, rather than across their chests.

Others in the van were injured. They include Heidi Seidler, 26, who was driving, Jessica Seidler, 23, and Charity Seidler, 17. All are hospitalized in Casper.

Paslay, who had no passengers in his pickup truck, was hospitalized in Riverton.

The accident happened about 7:50pm. Weather was not a factor, according to a statement released by Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt. Stephen Townsend.
