Nine businessmen won entrepreneur of the year awards for the Rocky Mountain region at a banquet Thursday.

Ernst & Young, which produces the awards program, said the winners were selected from nearly 100 nominees by a panel of independent judges.

James Possehl, chairman and chief executive of Republic Financial Corp. in Aurora, won the award for business services.

C. David Moll, chief executive of Webroot Software Inc. in Boulder, won for emerging growth.

The winner in the medical and health sciences category was Brian Baldwin, chairman emeritus of medical-supplies maker Baxa Corp. in Englewood.

R. Scot Sellers, chairman and chief executive at real estate investment firm Archstone-Smith in Englewood, received the award for real estate and construction.

The awards in the retail and manufacturing category went to two executives at Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy in Boulder – co-founder, president and chief executive Barry Perzow and co-founder Dale Schwartz.

In technology, the winners were co-founders of 911 database management company Intrado Inc. in Longmont – president and chief executive George Heinrichs and chief technology officer Stephen Meer.

The turnaround winner was Mark A. Hellerstein, chairman, chief executive and president of St. Mary Land & Exploration Co. in Denver.

The regional winners are eligible to be considered for the program’s national awards to be announced in November and the world awards in May.
