Who: Richard Montoya of Longmont, Trey Lyons of Braslavia, and Carolyn Montoya, also of Longmont

Where: Bratislava

Out and about: We made a stop in Bratislava, while on a Blue Danube River Cruise. Trey Lyons, a former elementary student of Richard’s, met us and took us on a walking tour of the city. Trey works for the U. S. Embassy in Bratislava. This was definitely a highlight of our trip. We traveled through 26 locks on our way from Budapest to Nuremberg, Germany, where we were bused to Prague, Czech Republic. We toured Durnstein, Vienna and Melk, Austria; and Regensburg, and Nuremberg, Germany. We thoroughly enjoyed each destination for its Old World charm.

Travel tip: We highly recommend the Blue Danube River Cruise on the Amadeus Waterways ship Ms Artistry. The cabins were spacious, the food and presentation excellent. We enjoyed this change from the large cruise ships because it was more intimate and allowed us to meet some very nice people from all over the world. The hotels in Budapest and Prague were exceptional. The tours were well-organized with an English speaking guide on each bus. This was a trip of a lifetime for us.
