Reed Arvin, a true up-and-comer in the legal thriller world, is out with a new novel, “Blood of Angels,” while in nonfiction, look for “A Sense of Duty,” a memoir by a young man who went from Vietnamese refugee to U.S. Marine. In paper, there are offerings from Jodi Picoult and Lee Child. Some big names are on the horizon, such as John Irving and Diana Gabaldon.

FICTION

“Blood of Angels,” by Reed Arvin, HarperCollins, 354 pages, $16.95|Arvin, who always writes engaging and taut thrillers, is back with another courtroom page-turner.

“Map of Bones,” by James Rollins, Morrow, 448 pages, $24.95|This Da Vinci-esque thriller involves ancient secret societies, relics and mayhem.

“The Starter Wife,” by Gigi Levangie Grazer, Simon & Schuster, 368 pages, $24|A novel about divorce and re-finding yourself in Hollywood from the author of “Maneater.”

NONFICTION

“A Sense of Duty: My Father, My American Journey,” by Quang X. Pham, Ballantine, 261 pages, $24.95|A son’s tribute to his father by a Vietnamese refugee who later became a U.S. citizen and joined the military.

“Under and Alone: The True Story of the Undercover Agent Who Infiltrated America’s Most Violent Outlaw Motorcycle Gang,” by William Queen, Random House, 288 pages, $24.95| The story of a law enforcement agent who spent 28 months under cover in an outlaw motorcycle club.

“Down Came the Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression,” by Brooke Shields, Hyperion, 240 pages, $23.95|The famous actress pulls no punches as she takes the reader through her life after childbirth.

PAPERBACKS

“My Sister’s Keeper,” by Jodi Picoult, Washington Square Press, 448 pages, $14|A story about choices a family must make when a child comes down with a serious illness.

“Killing Floor,” by Lee Child, Jove, 419 pages, $7.99|Strange goings-on are happening in a small Georgia town, and Jack Reacher is just the guy to find out what they are.

“Truth and Beauty: A Friendship,” by Ann Patchett, Perennial, 257 pages, $13.95|The writer’s memoir about her relationship with “Autobiography of a Face” author Lucy Grealy.

COMING UP

“Until I Find You,” by John Updike, 848 pages, $27.95, July 12|An actor who grows up fatherless is greatly affected by the dysfunctional women in his life.

“A Breath of Snow and Ashes,” by Diana Gabaldon, Bantam, 928 pages, $28, September|The sixth novel in the extremely popular author’s “Outlander” series.

“Lovesick Blues: The Life of Hank Williams,” by Paul Hemphill, Viking, 224 pages, $23.95, September| Hemphill, who also wrote “The Nashville Sound,” tells the king of country music’s story and the times in which he lived.
