Former Highlands Ranch High School star Susie Powers is transferring from Notre Dame to Colorado. Powers, a 5-foot-10 guard, will sit out the 2005-06 season and will have two years of eligibility left starting with the 2006-07 season.

Boxing at Pepsi Center

Insideboxing.com wrote Denver can expect a “major boxing event” Aug. 12 when Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions brings a card to the Pepsi Center, the same weekend of the Champ Car Grand Prix of Denver.

Fighters have not been announced, but Insideboxing.com speculates Denver lightweight Stevie Johnston may be included. The former world champion has not fought since September 2003 but is rumored to be working with renowned trainer Buddy McGirt in Florida, according to the website.

Mammoth upset in Vail

The Mammoth, a team comprised of several Colorado Mammoth players, lost 7-6 to Team 21s on Saturday at the Vail Lacrosse Shootout. Team 21s is made up of former Cornell players, including David Coors of Colorado, and is named for Mario St. George Boiardi, who died last year during a game after being struck in the chest by a ball.

Team 21s will play Team GoFast in today’s second semifinal. GMH will play Rock-It Pocket, a team of Colorado State club players, in the first semifinal at 11 a.m. at Ford Field.
