“The Perfect Man” leading lady and “The Hot Chick” leading man will hand out awards such as Choice Liplock, Choice Movie Chemistry and Choice Male Hottie during the Los Angeles ceremony Aug. 16.
Gwen Stefani will kick off the show with a performance of “Hollaback Girl.” She will be honored with the Teen Choice Visionary Award, Fox announced Tuesday.
Duff won Choice Movie Breakout Performance in 2003 for her role in “The Lizzie McGuire Movie.”
Bruce Campbell has been a B-movie actor, a director and an author. Now he wants to be a talk-radio host.
“I think it would be fun to take questions and to just rag on Hollywood,” said Campbell, who starred in the “Evil Dead” horror film series.
Campbell, 47, was in Denver to promote his new book, “Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way,” a novel he says is about what would happen if a B-movie actor were cast in a studio movie.
Angela Lansbury, who kicked up her heels in the Broadway musicals “Mame” and “Gypsy,” was scheduled to have knee replacement surgery today.
“Her knee is so painful from years of dancing,” her daughter, Deirdre Battarra, said Tuesday in Los Angeles.
Lansbury is the winner of four Tony Awards, for her performances in “Mame,” “Gypsy,” “Dear World” and “Sweeney Todd.” The 79-year-old actress starred as crime novelist Jessica Fletcher in the long-running TV series “Murder, She Wrote.” Recovery is expected to take one or two months.
It wasn’t jealousy that drove tenor Roberto Alagna to take over the role of the clown Canio in the Los Angeles Opera production of “Pagliacci.” It was Ben Heppner’s voice.
“After very careful consideration, Ben has decided that the role of Canio no longer suits his voice and has removed it from his active repertoire,” his management company said in a statement distributed Tuesday by the opera company. “He was looking forward to making his debut with the LA Opera, but he is convinced that Canio would not prove to be the medium.”
