The Denver Post’s website is launching a new tool today that makes it easier for readers to get news online.

News Hound is like the dog that would bring you the newspaper every morning from the porch, only this digital version fetches just the news you want. And News Hound is spam- proof.

News Hound will visit DenverPost.com throughout the day and show you what’s new since the last time you checked.

News Hound takes advantage of “RSS feeds,” which have been growing in popularity with blogs and many news sites.

Although “RSS” stands for Really Simple Syndication, until now, figuring out how to use the special code provided by websites wasn’t simple at all.

With News Hound, subscribing to RSS feeds is a snap. Readers can choose their own topics of interest, whether it’s news from their own suburb or hot topics such as regional growth or the environment.

News Hound can also scan the entire Internet for news feeds.

The software and the service are both free and available at .
