Getting your player ready...

Looking for a way to escape temperatures that would make the devil sweat? Here are some of the coolest places to cool off.

1) Savor an ice cream one lick at a time. No one will laugh (much), if you rest your head on the refrigerated case while waiting for a scoop.

2) Go caving. The temperatures inside most rock formations are about 58 degrees year round. Cave of the Winds in Manitou Springs and Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park are top picks.

3) Take the Cog Railway up to Pikes Peak.

4) Chill out and find the love of your life in the frozen-food section at your local grocery store.

5) Get dumped on by a giant bucket of water at The Splash at Fossil Trace water park in Golden, 3151 Illinois St.

6) Dream of winter’s return when you don skates at local ice rinks. The North Jeffco Apex Center Ice Arena, 13150 W. 72nd Ave. in Arvada; Big Bear Ice Arena, 8580 Lowry Boulevard; and the University of Denver Ritchie Center, 2201 E. Asbury Ave., are good bets.

7) Get blown away when you walk down the fan isle in any home furnishings store, or stand in front of a swamp cooler at your local Home Depot.

8) Cool your heels with a tingly peppermint foot soak.

9) Take your time choosing the perfect beverage while lounging inside giant coolers or wine cellars at your favorite liquor store.

10) Rent a paddle boat at Grand Lake, the western gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park.

11) Get cool by being in the presence of cool people. Listen to jazz music at hip places such as Dazzle Supper Club, 930 Lincoln St.

Sometimes, coolness is a state of mind.
