Seven burglary suspects and a robbery suspect were arrested by Denver police in Congress Park and southeastern portions of the city in the past several days.
Police lauded the community and officers who work in those areas for aiding the arrests.
Those arrested on suspicion of burglary were Timothy Allen Charles, 45; Osiel Davis, 19; Michael Mackey, 34; Robert Pawelek, 45; David Leethan; Pete Mosqueda, 37; and Jose Diaz-Medina.
Russell Darby, 26, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery.
Charles was arrested July 18 in the 900 block of Adams Street when, officers say, he was seen climbing out of a house window.
Davis and Mackey were arrested in the 1100 block of Columbine Street after police received a complaint of drug use in the area. Officers found stereo equipment, bags of jewelry and other valuables with the men. They also found some valuables from New Mexico.
Pawelek, Leethan and Mosqueda were arrested at the Monroe Tavern in relation to a burglary that occurred in the 1400 block of Madison Street. Valuables were found inside a car parked at the tavern, police said.
Diaz-Medina was arrested in the 500 block of Josephine Street when, police say, he and an unidentified person left the scene of another burglary. Diaz-Medina was charged with second-degree burglary and is in custody, police said.
Darby was arrested July 12 after four robberies were reported in the area of Leetsdale Drive and South Quebec Street. Police say Darby was trying to conceal a crack pipe when they approached him, and victims of the robberies identified him as the assailant.
Police said that a factor in all the arrests was cooperation they received from residents in the community.
