Facing the dilemma of how to get his 6-year-old son away from video games and outside to play, Michael Ward did what any Grammy Award-winning guitarist might do – he wrote a children’s book and accompanying music CD about riding a bicycle. Then he called his pal Lance Armstrong and asked him to write the foreword. Armstrong gladly complied, adding a dash of credibility along with his significant marketing cachet to Ward’s first book, “Mike and the Bike.”

Intended to introduce kids to the world of cycling, “Mike and the Bike” blends humor and music to encourage kids to get outside and ride through the tale of a boy, his best friend and their adventures on a bicycle. The accompanying 30-minute music CD features original, up-tempo rock songs composed and performed by Ward and his son, Tennessee, with a special narration by the “Voice of Cycling,” Phil Liggett.
