Q: I have a question … you may not be able to answer it for me, but being that I am new to this, perhaps you can lead me in the right direction.

I have a granddaughter who is 18 years old. She is pregnant in her eighth month, she lives in Pueblo Colorado, she had been very ill, and has had at least one ultra sound of her baby a month.

This is a pretty long story, but I will try to make it short. She just found out yesterday at a hospital in Denver, that she is not only carrying a baby boy, but she is also carrying a large (same size as the baby) tumor in her stomach as well, well!

How could this have happened? Why wasn’t this found out a long time ago?

Why do I sit here and face the fact that I will lose my granddaughter, and perhaps her son? What happened?

You would think with all the technology today, that a cyst on an ovary would have not gone that far! What are we to do as a family?

Now she has to see a cancer specialist next week, and then the following week they will have to remove her child and this large growth.

Is there some kind of justice out there for doctors who ruin others’ lives, who take our loved ones away from us, just because they don’t care, or they are too busy to really look at a person as a human being? I will not stop just here, I am a very loving and concerned grandmother who partially raised a beautiful young girl, and I can’t bear life without her in it.

Someone somewhere will hear me and give me and her some answers to this mess. After all, her life is at stake here — someone has to pay.

Thanks for any advice or help you can offer me,

– GB

SCOTT: Oh, what terrible news you received. I’m very sorry. I’m not a doctor, so I cannot tell you how it happened. But if you’re looking to hold the doctors responsible, I can point you in the right direction. Get a copy of your granddaughter’s medical records and take them to a medical malpractice lawyer for review.

Also, make sure they work on a pure contingency basis so you won’t risk your own money should they take your case.

But first, though, focus on your granddaughter’s physical health and get her some counseling to help get her through this rough time.

God bless.
