Out and about: The “Gates” in Central Park. After seeing the Christo exhibit at the MET during our visit to NYC last May, we knew that we wanted to return to see the real thing. As it turned out our son who moved to NYC a year ago got a job helping with the “Gates”. It was great hear all the inside information on the enormous task of a project of this scale. We spent a good part of two days walking a portion of the park, watching the movement of the gates, the color of the fabric changing as the sun moved, and the other visitors seeing Central Park in a new way.
Travel Tip: The Metro Hotel, was a great find. Great central location, good price, free breakfast, subway stop on the corner with several connections, and a rooftop deck that has a awesome view of the Empire State Building.
