Mustari claims national crown
Northern Colorado incoming freshman Tony Mustari last weekend became the first wrestler in the state to win two national championships when he captured the 112-pound freestyle crown at the Cadet & Junior Nationals in Fargo, N.D.
Mustari outscored the opposition 83-0 in eight matches. Mustari won the national title with a 10-0 technical fall over Aaron Hart of Urbana, Ohio, in 1 minute and 39 seconds. The Greeley Central alumnus finished his career as an eight-time All-American in Greco-Roman and freestyle competitions. He was a five-time finalist, and previously won a freestyle national title in 2003. Mustari was runner-up three times in his career in Greco-Roman, including this year.
He was a three-time Colorado state champion while posting a 161-11 career record, including 43-0 as a senior. This past spring he was a double champion at the 2005 Western Junior Regional and was named the outstanding wrestler in the freestyle competition.
