Avs should have kept Forsberg
The Avalanche’s contract offer to Peter Forsberg was insulting. Sakic and Blake would each have effectively been paid twice Forsberg’s salary. Forsberg, arguably the best player in the NHL, should have been the first player signed by the Avs. Maybe Pierre Lacroix is taking lessons from the Rockies front office – it appears to be a salary dump.

No sympathy for Monfort
Gosh, my heart just goes out to Charlie Monfort concerning the trade with Boston that fell through.
Maybe Charlie will one day realize that the sport the Rockies are playing is called hardball and it’s called hardball for a reason. He complains that world champions don’t operate and treat other organizations that way.Grow up, Charlie; you’re in over your head and you don’t get to be champions by being nice guys. Go back to your stockyards and sell the Rockies to someone that wants to produce a winning team.
When it comes to fans spending their hard-earned money on sports tickets, I’d place the Rockies behind the Broncos, Nuggets, Avalanche, Denver Pioneers, Metro Roadrunners and Broomfield girls softball.

Rockies’ leadership lacking
Anyone with a modicum of common sense knows that an organization’s success, be it in the business world or in the sports arena, starts at the top with strong leadership and a clear vision. That Shawn Chacon was high-fived and told he was “called up to the big leagues” by giddy Rockies teammates after the trade to the Yankees was finalized tells me pretty much all I need to know about Charlie Monfort and his incompetent front office.
This is a major-league town that deserves better than Double-A owners.
