Q: Someone told me wearing deodorant when hiking can attract mosquitoes. Is this true?
A: Perfumed deodorants or sweet- smelling lotions can be a magnet for annoying bugs like mosquitoes, but even worse, the strongest smells can draw bears. We recommend unscented deodorant, but when you are out backpacking in the woods, just be woodsy and happy with your natural scent.
