Getting your player ready...

Denver just got its first TV show featuring local night life and personalities. Now we’re gonna have two!

“Denver Live!” premiered on WB2 at 11:30 p.m. on July 31. Now comes word from TV producer Kellie Q Ryan that she’s creating “Denver Glitterati.” (Talk about Army intelligence!) And get this: It will air at exactly the same time Sunday nights on KTVD-Ch. 20.

“It just worked out that way,” says Ryan. “It’s kinda neat.”

Well, maybe. But you would think with all the TV in Denver they could find a time slot that didn’t go head-to-head against another show about the Denver scene.

Ryan says “Denver Glitterati” will feature Rhett Jordan, 21-year-old son of Realtor Rollie Jordan, in a segment dubbed “Denver Dens.” Think “Cribs,” Colorado-style. Still in college, Rhett is glitterati, says Ryan.

The show will also profile a local “celebrity” – club kids and the high achievers who live in the LoDo lofts. “Local people who live the celebrity lifestyle but don’t work in the media,” Ryan says.

What about the vice versa?

There will be a catwalk segment and “The Seen,” where cameras go into parties and catch the crowd throwing it down. Ryan declined to discuss the financials of the show. “Denver Glitterati” is skedded to debut Sept. 25.

Homeward bound

Michael Bennet, the new superintendent of Denver Public Schools, had a tough time getting home Tuesday. I ran into him at LaGuardia Airport hours before his scheduled flight. Seems he lost his driver’s license when in NYC. And we all know it’s not that easy getting on plane without ID these days.

After some intense vetting by security, he was OK’d.

Bennet was in the Apple to meet with NYC school chancellor Joel Klein and get some superintending tips.

I also ran into Jim Galbreath shoehorned into the bulkhead on my flight to Denver.

Notes from the island

I’m just back from a week on Long Island, where they both love us and are bored by us.

Crocs, the colorful rubber clogs based out of Niwot, are hot Out East. (Sorry I missed Jennifer Garner buying 16 pairs on the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder last month.)

The Colorado cowgirl look is way in, now morphed into the Jessica Simpson hillbilly look. I went on a radio show with author Stephen Gaines – who couldn’t believe that Denver doesn’t have any real celebrities. Then comes big news that Marc Cohn gets shot after playing the Botanic Gardens and ABC anchor-wife Elizabeth Vargas flies to his side. Of all the people and venues in Denver, someone takes a shot at Marc Cohn after the Botanic Gardens.

City spirit

Former CU president Betsy Hoffman spoke to the Denver Forum on Aug. 4. Then on to McCormick’s for a small dinner, where she began to seriously choke on a piece of lobster. Web master Jim Kennel jumped up and gave her the Heimlich, saving the day and the dame … Crested Butte Reel Fest this week salutes cinematographer László Kovács, the lens for “Easy Rider” and “Paper Moon.” The town held an “Easy Rider” costume BBQ Wednesday night … Sez who: “You know, Billy, we blew it.” Captain America
