UNC puts football tickets on sale
The University of Northern Colorado is taking orders for season tickets and single-game tickets for the 2005 football season.
Chairback reserved tickets are $65 for the season and $15 for individual games. Midfield reserved seats are $55 for the season and $13 per game, and field reserved seats are $50 for a season ticket and $12 per game.
The Bears open their season Sept. 3 at 1 p.m. in Greeley at Nottingham Field against the Colorado School of Mines. UNC has four other home games.
The NCAA has granted UNC approval to move to year three of the Bears’ four-year reclassification process.
“Each step we take in the process of reclassification moves (UNC) closer to the stated goal of being a full-fledged NCAA Division I institution by the 2007- 08 academic year,” Bears athletic director Jay Hinrichs said.
Niwot baseball team defending regional title
The Niwot-based State Farm baseball team (54-20) will play Arizona champion Tucson Post 7 today at 1 p.m. in Las Vegas in the first round of the American Legion Western Regional.
Coach Bob Bote’s team, which won the 2004 regional title, defeated Greeley GoJo Sports 18-3 in the state title game last Friday in Northglenn.
Gillum, Huffer advance to Match Play final
Kelly Gillum defeated Andrea Watts and Becca Huffer defeated Dawn Shockley, earning places in today’s final round of the Colorado Women’s Golf Association Match Play Championship at Murphy Creek Golf Course.
Coloradans earn medals at judo event in Florida
Athletes from Colorado won three gold, three silver and five bronze medals at the Junior U.S. Open International Championship tournament in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., last weekend.
Micayla Maes of the Northglenn Judo Club added to her sweep of all three junior national tournaments in July by winning the 28-kilogram division for the girls’ under-13 age group.
