Lost love stings Knightley

Just because you’re the hottest starlet on the planet doesn’t make you immune from heartbreak. Keira Knightley, so charming in “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Love Actually,” is shedding a veritable “river of tears,” according to the London Mirror, over her breakup with Irish model Jamie Dornan.

“Keira’s gutted,” a friend of the 20-year-old British actress told the paper.

“She really thought what she and Jamie had was love, but it just wasn’t meant to be. They both wanted it to work, but in the end it was just untenable. They were having crisis talks on an almost daily basis, but the decision was reached to finally call it a day.”

Fans of rock ‘n’ roll icon Jerry Lee Lewis no longer will be allowed to tour his home in Hernando, Miss.

Lewis’ residence has been closed to the public for more than a year during his lengthy divorce proceedings with his sixth wife, Kerrie McCarver Lewis.

“This is a private residence now,” Lewis’ daughter, Phoebe, told the DeSoto Times Today. “We don’t plan to open it back up.”

Lewis bought the 15-room house on 30 acres in April 1973. It has been a popular tourist attraction for the past decade.

Jennifer Garner continues to report to the studio despite the fact that she is having a child with new husband Ben Affleck. Garner’s ABC series, “Alias,” is working the pregnancy into the story line.

Now comes word from set insiders that Garner has informed the producers that once this season is done, so is she. But that doesn’t necessarily mean the end of “Alias.” The producers have reportedly approached Rachel Nichols, who joins the cast of the rollicking espionage series this year as a deadly black-ops agent, about her interest in assuming the lead if the series is renewed for a sixth season.

The actor who plays Pope John Paul II in a cable movie needed help from the new pope to obtain a visa to the United States for a publicity visit.

Piotr Adamcyzk plays the late pope in the Hallmark Channel movie “A Man Who Became Pope,” which airs today.

The 33-year-old actor was having trouble leaving Italy for New York. Then Pope Benedict XVI intervened.

The pope had recently screened the movie for Roman Catholic cardinals, bishops, priests and other church officials. They were so impressed with Adamcyzk’s portrayal that when they heard of the actor’s trouble getting a visa, they stepped in to make his trip possible.

Ledger’s girlfriend shows red-carpet expectations

Those gasps heard at the Los Angeles premiere of Heath Ledger’s new film? They were because his girlfriend, Michelle Williams, former bad girl on “Dawson’s Creek,” is obviously in a family way.

As the couple walked the red carpet for the premiere of “The Brothers Grimm,” Williams clearly had a baby on board beneath her Alessandro Dell’Acqua gown. The truly observant also noticed the actress, 24, was sporting a diamond ring on her left hand.

Ledger, 26, was asked by People magazine whether the ring meant what it usually means: a trip to the wedding chapel. Said the Aussie, “I wouldn’t rule it out.”
