The Denver chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners honored women’s excellence in business at its seventh annual Outstanding Women in Business Awards Luncheon last week.
This year’s event, held Thursday at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, was the largest yet with 770 attendees – a 40 percent increase over 2004, according to NAWBO president Karen McCormack.
McCormack attributes the increase to NAWBO’s first-ever conference in February, called “In Good Company,” which allowed woman business owners and NAWBO members to connect.
The winners of awards, sponsored by the Denver Business Journal and Wells Fargo, included:
Juliana Braunagel, a four-year NAWBO board member, as Member of the Year.
Elizabeth Byrnes Crony, president of Blacktie-Colorado.com, who got the Jean Yancey Small Business Owner of the Year award (five or fewer employees).
Wende Curtis, owner of Comedy Works, who received the Jean Yancey Large Business Owner of the Year award.
