2005 grad gets Dem scholarship
Pablo Soto, a 2005 graduate of Jefferson High School in Lakewood, received a $1,000 Curtis Garrett memorial scholarship from the Jefferson County Democratic Party.
The scholarship honors Garrett, an active Democrat who taught in metro-area schools for 37 years until his retirement in 1992.
Asian-Pacific culture celebrated
Aurora’s Asian-Pacific population will be celebrated at the World Fusion Festival on Aug. 27 in Original Aurora.
The free event will be in the Fletcher Plaza at 9898 E. Colfax Ave., adjacent to the new Martin Luther King Jr. Library/Municipal Services Center.
The festival will include traditional Asian-Pacific music, food and cultural arts.
Performances will feature Indian and Polynesian dance, music from Indonesia, performances on a Japanese harp and exhibitors offering information and wares related to feng shui, custom clothing, yoga/tai chi, imported crafts and more.
