Rapids waive Melamed
The Rapids waived defender Guy Melamed on Thursday, opening a Senior International spot on the roster. Melamed, who was drafted by the Rapids in the fourth round (43rd overall) in the 2005 Major League Soccer SuperDraft, started 10 games for Colorado during his rookie season, recording one assist.
Also, the Rapids will collect donations to help Hurricane Katrina victims at Saturday night’s game against D.C. United. All donations will go to the American Red Cross.
Boulder rider ninth at Mountain Bike Worlds
Chloe Forsman of Boulder finished ninth in the junior women’s cross country 10.5-mile race at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Livigno, Italy. It was the best finish by an American junior since 2001.
