Who: Doug Johnston and Karen Uyeda, Windsor
Where: Cod Hole, Great Barrier Reef
Out and about: Earlier this year, I read about a photo tour to the Coral Sea and Great Barrier Reef with professional underwater photographer Stephen Frink. It was a place that we had wanted to go to since we were certified as divers 20 years ago . After taking about 1,500 photos underwater, we are more than ready to return to Australia to explore more of the land and more of the waters! Cod Hole is where they feed the huge potato cod – unfortunately, we didn’t get a picture of us with the cod!
Travel tip: When traveling to Australia, you need a travel visa. This is easily obtained online and is valid for a year. If you book your air travel online, you won’t necessarily be reminded that you need this document. Also, Qantas Airlines has a weight limit for carry-on baggage (7 kg, or 15 pounds, is the limit). We were lucky and never got checked, but others on the trip had to scurry to pack items into the checked bags.
