Fort Collins – Christine Chin was named president and publisher of the Fort Collins Coloradoan on Thursday, one day after the previous publisher and the newspaper’s top editor resigned.

Chin was previously president and publisher of the Bellingham (Wash.) Herald. The Coloradoan is owned by the Gannett Co., which also owned the Herald until last month, when it was acquired by Knight Ridder Inc.

Dorothy Bland, the Coloradoan’s publisher for 11 years, and Michael Limon, executive editor for three years, resigned Wednesday. Bland, Limon and Gannett spokeswoman Tara Connell declined to discuss the reasons.

City editor Pat Ferrier is serving as interim executive editor until Limon is replaced.

The Coloradoan has a weekday circulation of about 28,000 and Sunday circulation of 34,000.

McLean, Va.-based Gannett is the largest newspaper publisher in the United States with 101 newspapers in 41 states, the District of Columbia and Guam.
