After signing free-agent guard Earl Watson last week, the Nuggets still are waiting to wrap up contracts for incumbent guards Greg Buckner and DerMarr Johnson. But general manager Kiki Vandeweghe did not sound worried about his prospects when asked about the delay Saturday.

“We feel comfortable we’ll come to an agreement shortly,” Vandeweghe said.

Buckner and Kenyon Martin were among those Nuggets raising money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina on Thursday in Denver.

Martin continues his help today in Houston, where he is scheduled to attend, though not play in, the charity game set up by former NBA guard Kenny Smith. It will feature Kobe Bryant, Amare Stoudemire, LeBron James, Kevin Garnett and Dwyane Wade. …

The Nuggets are accepting audition tapes for their in-game public address announcer at the Pepsi Center.

Applicants with knowledge of NBA rules and Nuggets personnel should send a tape or CD with a mock announcement of a Nuggets starting lineup, along with two minutes of additional material, to: PA Announcer, Pepsi Center, 1000 Chopper Circle, Denver, CO 80204. The team will accept applications through Sept. 30.
