Take a walk in the woods this weekend as part of the annual National Orienteering Days. The Rocky Mountain Orienteering Club is hosting family-friendly events on Saturday and Sunday aiming to introduce the sport of orienteering to newcomers.

Saturday’s meet – one of 60 taking place across the country – will be held in Black Forest Regional Park near Colorado Springs. Sunday’s meet will be in Lakewood’s Bear Creek Lake Park.

Participants including family teams will trot through several beginner and intermediate courses, using a map and compass to find specific points before finishing. No need to sign up. Just show up.
