The hands that were replaced with cutlery in “Edward Scissorhands,” flashed fancy fencing in “Pirates of the Caribbean,” and wore gloves in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” are now immortalized in concrete.

Johnny Depp signed his name and placed his handprints and footprints in wet concrete in front of the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.

“So this is weird,” Deep said as hundreds of fans watched the ceremony Friday.

The sidewalk honor coincided with the release of Depp’s latest film, the animated “Corpse Bride,” which opened in limited release Friday.

For some actors, it’s all about the quality of a script. Patrick Stewart was attracted to one of his latest projects by the prospect of a reunion with Kyle Mac Lachlan and the chance to visit Thailand.

Stewart played Captain Nemo in “Jules Verne’s Mysterious Island,” a three-hour movie on the Hallmark Channel.

He co-starred with Mac Lachlan 20 years after the actors first worked together in the sci-fi movie “Dune.”

“It’s always a special attraction for a project if you have someone that you’re that fond of working with you,” Stewart said. “Kyle and I became unlikely good friends and have remained very close over the decades.”

“Mysterious Island” made use of Thailand’s jungle and cave locations.

Steven Spielberg’s Shoah Foundation, a repository of Holocaust testimonials, is becoming part of the University of Southern California’s College of Letters, Arts and Sciences.

Spielberg, the foundation’s chairman and a USC trustee, said moving the collection to USC will ensure its preservation and access to the public.

“All of us know that the survivors and witnesses have given us a precious gift whose wise use will build a better world for this and future generations,” Spielberg said in a statement.

The repository’s 52,000 testimonials from survivors and witnesses will be transferred Jan. 1 to USC indefinitely.

Boxers or briefs? Becca Gardner got a backside view of co-star Morgan Freeman for a scene in “An Unfinished Life.”

In the new movie directed by Lasse Hallstrom, Freeman plays a ranch hand who was mauled by a bear, making him dependent on morphine. Becca’s character has to give him an injection.

“I was kind of nervous to see, like, his butt, and I pulled down his pants and he was wearing a thong!” the 15-year-old told The Associated Press in an interview.

“An Unfinished Life” also stars Robert Redford and Jennifer Lopez.

“Everybody else knows her as J.Lo, but I see her as Jennifer,” Becca said. “Like they’re two different people. She was like a big sister to me. She’s so sweet and loving.” When Lopez asked Becca to name her favorite singer, “I told her Stevie Nicks and she said ‘I only know one of her songs,’ and she tried to sing the song, but she didn’t know the words very well, so I had to teach her.”

Bruce Lee fans are urging the Hong Kong government to help pay for a bronze statue to mark the actor’s 65th birthday in November.

The Bruce Lee Club is planning to erect an 8-foot-2-inch statue of the martial arts legend on the Avenue of Stars, which honors Hong Kong movie stars, said Hew Kuan-yau, a member of the club’s committee.

Lee was born in the United States but moved to Hong Kong as a child. Most of his movies were shot and produced in Hong Kong. He died in 1973 at age 32.

Martha calls her multitudes

Martha Stewart, of Effingham, S.C., is heading to New York City to be part of an audience full of people bearing that same name Tuesday for domestic diva Martha Stewart’s talk show, “Martha.” This Stewart had to describe how sharing the name affected her.

“I had gotten a traffic citation while Martha was in jail,” she said. “When I went to my court date, I prayed that they wouldn’t call my name out too loud or that they’d wait to call me last.

“When the judge called my name, everyone started cheering and hollering. The judge said ‘Come on up here, Cupcake.’ Apparently, that’s what the inmates called Martha while she was in prison.”
