Jennifer Hagedorn, a senior at Boulder Valley’s Monarch High School in Louisville, attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine in New Orleans in July.

Participants at the forum worked in small groups on extensive case studies while learning about the medical field, including the different moral, legal and financial aspects of a career in medicine.

Because of her selection and participation in the forum, Jennifer has been invited to the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington next spring.

Jennifer has taken Advanced Placement classes in European, U.S. and world history, as well as language composition and advanced math classes. She has a 4.4 weighted grade-point average.

Jennifer skis, plays tennis and bicycled in this year’s Ride the Rockies. She has taken piano lessons and given recitals for 11 years.

She plans to pursue a career in medicine with an emphasis in orthopedic surgery.
