Who: Mike and Josie Phillips of Arvada
Where: The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane
Out and about: Of all the sights to see in Brisbane, the most enjoyable was the sanctuary. It has many wild animals to photograph up close: koalas, kangaroos, snakes, scrub turkeys, wombats, dingoes, Tasmanian devils, crocodiles, echidnas, possums, emus, birds and barn animals. They also have animal talks by wildlife keepers and such visitor activities as the Sheep Dog Show, Snake Talk and Wild Lorikeet Feeding. You are allowed to hug a koala and hand-feed the kangaroos and emus.
Travel tip: The best time to visit Brisbane is in August (it is their winter time). The days are nice and sunny, but by evening you need a jacket. The following months can be extremely hot and humid.
