New York – We’ve barely had a chance to break out our fall wardrobes, but fashion marches on. For spring, expect pretty, wearable styles
that are mostly free of the retro trappings that have gripped fashion in a time warp for the past several seasons.
“It’s ladylike dressing,” says Suze Yalof Schwartz, executive editor at large of Glamour magazine. “Everything looks special, with details like ruffles and bows.”
Among those taking in the shows here was Max Martinez, owner of Max stores in Denver and Boulder. “It’s a return to elegance,” the retailer said. “Women will always wear their jeans, but dress-up looks are back in a big way.”
Colors are feminine and flattering too. “They’re lighter and softer than we’ve seen in a while,” say Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. French vanilla, soothing blues and a khaki-like neutral Pantone calls Sand Dollar are among her picks of top colors for the season. “It’s like taking a deep breath and a step back from all the craziness in the world,” Eiseman says.
Here’s a sneak peek of some of the top trends you will find in stores a few months from now.
