The Rio Grande Southern narrow gauge motor car N0. 3, the Galloping Goose, makes its run near Ophir on Sept. 1, 1940. The Rio Grande Southern Railroad introduced the Galloping Goose during the Great Depression as a more economical means for transporting freight, mail and passengers.
