Say goodbye to cork

Noticed rubber corks, or even (gasp!) screw tops on your favorite bottle of fine wine?

Trail Ridge Winery is finding itself in the middle of the great cork debate.

“Corks used to be a nickel apiece and now they’re up to 52 cents,” Fiore said. “Meanwhile you pay pennies apiece for screw tops.” Cork also has a high likelihood of going bad and spoiling the wine. “When you’re talking one in 100 bottles of wine going out the door being bad, that’s just too high,” Fiore said. “Going to screw tops is actually going to improve our wine.”
