Busy guitars and ambitious vocals wrapped in a pop-rock package characterize “Cosmic,” this Denver band’s new six-song EP featuring four songs produced by Peter DiStefano of Porno for Pyros. The quartet launches the album and films a video for the new song “Breakthrough” on Saturday at Herman’s Hideaway, 1578 S. Broadway. Top Denver jazz personalities take on music by Charles Mingus during the first installment of the “School of Music Reform,” a weekly experimental music and discussion series at The Lab at Belmar, 7180 W. Alaska Drive, Lakewood. The six-part series is designed for both music aficionados and casual fans. It will combine the area’s leading musicians with a surprise entertainment element.
