Two share senior section championship lead
Mike Zaremba of Walking Stick Golf Club and Ken Krieger of Cheyenne Country Club shared the lead after Wednesday’s first round of the Colorado PGA Senior Section Championship at Walking Stick in Pueblo.
Zaremba and Krieger each shot 6-under-par 66s. Tom Nosewicz of Meadow Hills is two strokes back at 68. Scott Walter of Bear Creek Golf Club shot a 2-under 70 and is in third place.
Metro State blanks Regis in RMAC soccer
The Metro State women’s soccer team stayed atop the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference by beating Regis 1-0 at Auraria Field. Brooke Kiefer scored in the 75th minute off a dead-ball pass from Krystal Kilbey. It was the Road- runners’ (8-0, 5-0) seventh shutout in eight games this season. Regis dropped to 6-1, 4-1.
Mammoth re-signs former DU standout
The Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League re-signed defenseman Tom Ethington to a two- year contract. Ethington, who starred at the University of Denver, has been with the Mammoth since it selected him in the 2002 NLL entry draft. He played in a career-high nine games last season, scoring nine goals.
