San Francisco sleet
A plan to place a ski jump on a busy city street was unanimously approved by San Francisco officials despite complaints by residents who said it would cause gridlock and parking problems. The city decided that ski and snowboard wax company Icer had satisfied all safety requirements and voted 8-0 to grant the permit, which will allow Olympian Jonny Moseley and other contestants to participate in Icer Air 2005. The event, initially planned for August, was delayed after Pacific Heights residents complained about safety and were concerned the city would have to pay an expensive insurance bill. The event, which will block a portion of Fillmore Street, will take place Wednesday and Thursday.
