Last meeting
Eagles won 23-10 at Kansas City on Nov. 29, 2001
Who knew
The Chiefs, the odds-on pick to win the AFC West, have had, count it, one winning season in their past five. That would be 2003, when they won their first nine games en route to a 13-3 season.
Spotlight on
Chiefs QB Trent Green. The Chiefs have to be worried about Green, one of the most prolific quarterbacks in recent NFL history. Hobbled by a leg injury in the preseason, Green has thrown one touchdown pass in three games – a consolation-prize 21-yarder in the waning moments of last Monday’s 30-10 loss to the Broncos. Green threw 27 touchdown passes and averaged 287 passing yards per game in 2004. This season, he’s at 219 yards per.
Etc.
Chiefs’ running game in their first two games: 323 yards, 4.6 a carry. Chiefs’ running game last Monday in Denver: 74 yards, 3.4 a carry. … Chiefs’ game plan is to use Priest Holmes (55 carries, 221 yards) two of every three series, with Larry Johnson (26, 164) playing the other series. … Eagles’ Terrell Owens – yes, after all was said and done, he’s still in Philly – has 98 career TD catches. Two more and he becomes the fifth player with 100. … Eagles’ Donovan McNabb leadin’ league in passing yards (964) and TD tosses (eight). … Eagles’ offense leadin’ league with 444 yards a game. … Dick Vermeil 0-3 against Philly, the team he coached to a Super Bowl back in the day.
Prediction
Chiefs 29, Eagles 24
