Both Paris parents in doubt
There may be trouble in Paris-dise.
According to the New York Post’s Cindy Adams, Paris Hilton’s parents, Rick and Kathy, were overheard at a Hamptons restaurant dismissing their daughter’s engagement to shipping heir Paris Latsis.
Kathy: “I’m not thrilled with this Latsis kid because of his values. He lives in a $12 million house in Beverly Hills and has no job. … He’s not a bad kid. Just not motivated. I do not knock him to Paris at all. … And I do not think she should marry him. I hope she doesn’t, but I’ll always support everything my kids do.”
Rick: “He’s nice but nobody except a rich kid.”
Latsis’ father, Gregoris Kasidokostas, said last week he didn’t think his son would marry Hilton.
Michael Jackson’s father, Joe, is starting up a hip-hop boot camp, MTV.com reports. The first competition began Friday in New York and continued through today.
Considering the stories about how harshly he treated his son, potential “campers” might want to think twice.
Paul Newman’s generosity goes beyond our borders.
The Oscar winner distributed $1 million among 22 Australian charities, the Melbourne Herald Sun reported. More than 700 organizations applied for the grant. Those aided by the Paul Newman Foundation included disadvantaged kids participating in music and arts. Newman’s foundation has awarded $9 million to Australian charities in the past 21 years.
Who is Jennifer Aniston calling “Gollum”? Skynews.com’s Sandro Monetti reports she uses the name of the bony, ugly character from “The Lord of the Rings” as a jab at Angelina Jolie.
This quote from Russell Crowe, courtesy of skynews.com’s Monetti, might explain a lot about the actor: “They all want me to be examined by psychologists. I come from a different culture. If I’ve got something on my mind, you’ll hear about it. Voilà! Mental anguish solved.”
Ashton Kutcher was subpoenaed for jury duty just days before his wedding to Demi Moore. Skynews.com reports Kutcher tried to get out of the detail, saying he was “supposed to help people in New Orleans.” Kutcher was selected, but the case was settled out of court.
Did Star Jones quit her awards interview job at E! Entertainment or did the cable network shove “The View” correspondent off the red carpet?
Jones made her final appearance on the red carpet at the Emmys last month. An insider told the New York Post the option for another year was not picked up. Jones claims she will be too busy promoting her book, due out in January. The new E! red carpet team will be comedian Kathy Griffin, Giuliana Depandi and Carson Kressley.
One source noted: “Do you think Star would give up good money and a load of freebies from the goody bags and the dresses for a book? No way.”
Jodie Foster may want to take private jets the next time she flies, or watch out for spilled hot coffee.
Labor unions representing most of the nation’s 90,000 flight attendants have urged their members to boycott Foster’s new film “Flightplan.” A spokesperson for the Association of Professional Flight Attendants and Transport Union Local 556 called the film “irresponsible,” claiming flight attendants, one of which is a terrorist, were portrayed as “rude, condescending and uncaring.”
