Littleton has named its new boys basketball coach.

It’s Ron Hardy, a former assistant in the Lions’ program.

“He knows our kids, knows our program, and it’s good for us,” Littleton athletic director Butch Risoli said Thursday night.

Hardy, a former linebacker-tight end at Purdue University, has seven years’ experience as an assistant.

He replaces Tom Bancroft, who retired from teaching in the Cherry Creek District and took a position at Denver’s George Washington, where he was recently named head boys coach.

Bancroft led the Lions for two years and relieved Mark Drury, whom Hardy also assisted.
