Vega State Park, near Collbran, will roll out the red carpet for hunters for the start of second elk season, Saturday and Oct. 23. The visitor center will open at 5 a.m. to offer coffee, snacks, videos and information. Arkansas task force
A citizen task force for the Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area will discuss a number of issues at a 9 a.m. Thursday meeting at the Upper Arkansas Water Conservancy District, 339 E. U.S. 50 in Salida.
Topics include an update on the Ruby Mountain recreation site and on commercial float fishing agreements, a report on the Buena Vista Whitewater Park and a proposal by Colorado Springs Utilities for the Blue Heron property near Florence.
