Getting your player ready...

Boulder – Colorado’s 44-13 win over Kansas might have been fun Saturday night, but it also was painful.

CU defensive end Alex Ligon (sprained knee), safety Ryan Walters (sprained shoulder) and offensive lineman Edwin Harrison (sprained ankle) were injured and did not return.

Timetables as to how long each player will be out will be determined today. Those findings may not be made public, however, because CU’s next opponent is Kansas State, and the Wildcats do not report their injuries. CU annually shuts down its injury information during K-State week.

Ligon’s injury has the potential to leave CU thin on the line. He had regained his starting job in place of Alonzo Barrett, who is out until the Nebraska game because of a PCL tear.

The offensive line has been CU’s thinnest position and the loss of Harrison won’t help. Last week, John Guydon was moved from defensive tackle to the offensive line.

“Were a team that has a lot of injuries,” CU coach Gary Barnett said. “That scares me. We’re just really running out of guys.”

Record-setting Buffs

Senior quarterback Joel Klatt continues to rewrite the CU record book.

With his performance Saturday – 16-of-27 for 193 yards and four touchdowns – Klatt broke Koy Detmer’s school record for career touchdown passes and closed the divide between Klatt and Kordell Stewart for career passing yards.

Klatt has 41 touchdown passes, eclipsing Detmer’s 40. Klatt has thrown for 6,307 yards, just 174 shy of Stewart’s record (6,481). In addition, Klatt is fourth in all-time wins for a CU starting quarterback. He has 17, tying him with Ken Johnson (1971-73). Darian Hagan holds the record with 28.

Joe Klopfenstein set a CU record for touchdown receptions by a tight end with his 12th. He had two touchdown catches Saturday. Klopfenstein passed Christian Fauria, Daniel Graham and Gary Knafelc, all of whom had 11.
