The Rockies have expressed interest in left-handed pitcher Shawn Estes, contacting his agent this weekend.

No Rockies left-hander has won more games in a season than Estes did in 2004. He went 15-8 with a 5.84 ERA, leading the staff in victories and innings pitched.

Estes, 32, left the Rockies for the Arizona Diamondbacks last winter, signing a $2.5 million contract to play where he makes his year-round home. He went 7-8 last season for the Diamondbacks with a 4.80 ERA.

In front-office news, Jerry Dipoto resigned as the Rockies’ director of pro scouting and is leaning toward accepting a position with Arizona or Texas rather than working on Colorado’s TV broadcasts.

The Falcons (2-6, 1-1 College Hockey America) posted a 4-3 upset of the Beavers (5-1, 1-1) on Friday in the conference opener for both teams.
