Choo choo boo!
Is it a coincidence that Bug Theater’s Freak Train rolls in on Halloween night?
…does it matter?
The popular performance art show, open to anyone who cares to register (a limit of 12 performances each run, so if you’d like to register, be sure to get there at 7 on the nose), returns tonight (as it always does on the last Monday of every month) with full speed.
Freak Train, in all its glory, truly represents the good, the bad, and the ugly.
And we couldn’t love it more.
What: Freak Train
Where: Bug Theater, 3654 Navajo Street, 7:30 p.m.
Cost: $5

Happy birthday dear Mercury.
Dear Mercury Cafe:
Pretty soon, you’ll be asking to borrow the keys and stay out way past midnight. To which, the answer is “no.”
But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be celebrating your 15th birthday tonight in style, so we ordered you a big costume party (with a contest and prizes!), with a side of Cabaret Diosa for some “Somewhere Over the Mambo” dancing, and some political satire for flavor.
You’ve just blossomed so beautifully. Now be sure to be home by 11.
What: Mercury Cafe 15th Anniversary Halloween Party
Where: 2199 California Street, 5:30 – 11 p.m.
Cost: $10

Looking to just sit still and be entertained for Halloween?
Buntport Theater presents their adaptation of Charles Brockden Brown’s classic novel “Weiland,” called “The Transformation.”
It’s a psychological thriller!
Be thrilled, psychologically, with this story of a family of intellectuals whose traditional religious beliefs are brought to the surface by a miraculous trauma, presented by one of Denver’s most respected independent theaters.
Sometimes, kids in candy corn outfits can’t really deliver the thrill you’re looking for. Maybe Buntport Theater can.
What: “The Transformation” at Buntport Theater
Where: 717 Lipan Street, 8 p.m.
Cost: special pay-what-you-can performance!
