The Zagat 2006 guide to “America’s Top Restaurants” names Mizuna “Best in Breed, Class and Show” with a score of 28 out of 30 for food, placing it among the best in the country. In the “Top Food” category: Highland’s Garden Cafe in Denver, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House in Greenwood Village, L’Atelier in Boulder, and Sweet Basil in Vail.

The book, issued Oct. 26, is based on the opinions of 115,000 foodies and lists 1,352 eateries in 41 cities. It lists 40 Denver-area and mountain restaurants.

Nationally, top-rated restaurants include Bacchanalia in Atlanta, Lonesome Dove in Fort Worth, Nobu in Las Vegas, Fountain in Philadelphia, Bluestem in Kansas City, Tony’s in St. Louis, and Le Bernardin in New York.

The paperback version of the guide sells for $14.95. An online subscription to zagat.com is $19.95 for restaurant listings or $24.95 for access to all Zagat listings, including hotel, restaurant and night-life listings.
