Getting your player ready...

Q: Scott,

When a girl tells you that the two of you are “just friends,” what does that mean exactly?

I had been seeing this girl for a month and wondered what exactly her thought was on the two of us. She said she isn’t ready for a physical relationship (her last “boyfriend” passed away), but if she was, “I’m her #1 pick.”

Should I forget this completely or pursue the friendship in hopes something will happen in the future?

SCOTT: When a girl tells you you’re just friends, nine times out of ten it means she’s not interested in you.

Go ahead and be friends with her (who doesn’t need friends?), but she has a lot going now anyway so the timing is bad for a relationship. The bottom line: if you two are meant to be, it’ll happen.

But don’t count on it.
