Hall of Fame
Hale Irwin, the former multisport athlete at Boulder High School and the University of Colorado who went on to win three U.S. Open golf championships and dominated the Champions Tour, heads the latest class to be inducted into the Colorado High School Association Hall of Fame.
The 17th annual class also includes longtime Denver Prep League coaches Herman Motz (Thomas Jefferson football and active in the Colorado High School Coaches Association) and Betsy Allen (Manual, Montbello and East basketball) to two former student participants in Chris Babbs (East) and Scott Wilson (Custer County). The class also will include longtime basketball and football official Tom Fincken and former Air Academy vocal music icon David Filsinger.
The annual banquet and induction ceremony will be Wednesday, Jan. 18, 6:30 p.m., at the Radisson Hotel Denver Southeast (Interstate 225 and Parker Road). Individual tickets are $37.50 and may be purchased through the CHSAA, 303-344-5050.
